All About Dave

David loomed so large in the lives of many.

At his core, he was bursting with life. With joy. With an insatiable desire to devour all there is to see, eat, drink, learn, and do. And he had an incredible group of friends to do it with.

What sheer and unapologetic fun they had. May we all be so lucky.

At the same time, he equally delighted in doing nothing more than sitting on the dock at his favorite place on earth, with the love of his life by his side, a glass of wine, warm wind at his back, and James Taylor.

He loved so very deeply and we are eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to bear witness to the beautiful and real and evolving love story Mary and Dave had. And continue to have.

And the indelible strength Mary, his wife, has displayed over the last few years undoubtedly helped him endure the impossible. We know he did this—fought so hard, for so long—for her.

He was fiercely generous and king of the “Irish goodbye”. Impatient and antsy and stubborn and at once deeply rooted while already onto the next thing. He loved his family—not only his wife and kids, but his sister, his brother, in-laws, outlaws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and beyond.

Dave was someone who you “knew” even if you didn’t “know” him. His ability to make every single person he encountered feel special was magic. And his gravity and his gravitas were undeniable. You felt it the moment you entered his orbit.

And his work—and those who worked with him—mattered so much to him. He was a titan and a champion for so many. He changed the industry he grew up in, started his family in, and—to the day he passed—continued to be deeply passionate about.

We are so very sad. And we love him so very much. We all did. We all do. He was far too young. There wasn’t enough time. There was never going to be enough time.

Still.

We hope you’re enjoying your new view. Glass of wine in hand. With some warm wind at your back. James Taylor playing softly in the background. Finally able to relax again.
